BESMI SHIPWRECK (KAŞ)

As part of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism's Heritage for the Future project, an underwater excavation was launched in the summer of 2024 off Besmi Island near Kaş. Excavations are ongoing on the ship, which sank while transporting olive oil from the shores of Gaza to a western port in the 9th–10th centuries. The wreck is expected to remain accessible for underwater tourism.
